Does your child need extra support outside of school? We are now providing a few different tutoring options to meet the needs of struggling students. If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please fill out the application found at the link below. A $25 application fee must be sent along with your child’s application. Once we have received your application, our tutoring coordinator will call to schedule an appointment time.
Horizon Academy offers on-site one-on-one tutoring sessions using the Orton-Gillingham approach. Orton-Gillingham is an instructional approach intended primarily for use with persons who have difficulty with reading, spelling, and writing of the sort associated with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities. This multi-sensory approach is diagnostic, prescriptive, systematic, structured and personalized to meet the needs of the learner. Orton-Gillingham tutors have been trained in the approach by a Fellow from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators and continue to work under her guidance to ensure the quality of service provided.
45-minute sessions can be scheduled 2-4 times a week.

- Executive Functioning Skills
- Planning and prioritizing
- Study and organization skills
- Written Expression

Study Lab is a program that provides structured guidance to complete homework assignments for 5-12 grade students in the community.
The goal of the program is to facilitate work completion through a supportive environment. Staff will aid students by clarifying homework assignments, interpreting directions, and assisting with other homework needs.
The program is not meant for individualized instruction, but rather it is an academic atmosphere for students to benefit from the guidance of supportive teachers. Study Lab is a four-day program, Monday-Thursday at either 3:30-4:30 or 4:00-5:00. No drop-ins or partial week(s) available.
