We want your child to look forward to learning rather than dread the daily struggle of a classroom that doesn’t cater to their needs.

Finding New Horizons
From our high standards of staff qualification to our specialized resources for co-occurring learning disabilities, we provide your child with the resources they need to succeed. Dyslexia is a superpower, and we’re here to help train it so your child can explore the world with confidence.
Orton-Gillingham Approach
Focused teaching in sound patterns and sound awareness is the most effective way to support students with dyslexia. That’s why our school for learning disabilities uses a structured literacy method as the foundation of learning.
Multisensory Math Approach
Relying only on memorizing math facts can make learning harder for students with language-based learning disabilities. Instead, we use an approach that moves step by step, starting with hands-on activities, then moving to visual models, and eventually abstract thinking.
The Writing Revolution Approach
The Writing Revolution helps students showcase what they know, no matter the topic. Our writing program builds skills gradually, starting with sentences and growing into full essays. These proven strategies go beyond ELA classes, as we use them in multiple subjects.
Executive Function
Students learn practical ways to manage their work from start to finish, supporting success in school and beyond. With guidance and practice, they establish skills for setting goals, making plans, prioritizing tasks, and staying organized.

Measuring Progress
Students learn best and feel the most confident when they’re surrounded by friends who understand their unique way of thinking and interacting with the world.
When our approach helps concepts “click,” we know we’re on the right track, and we can start developing fluency across subjects.
Beyond turning in homework or completing learning objectives, we focus on smoothing the flow between instruction and task completion.
We examine numerical data once we’ve established all other pillars of education, focusing on the whole child rather than only judging their test scores like traditional schools.

Frequently Asked Questions
Absolutely. An inclusive environment ensures that every child not only gets the attention and resources they need, but also encourages them to be more understanding individuals. We promote a culture of diversity across all our programs, so students and parents can interconnect.
As a school for learning disabilities that teaches students with dyslexia, we know that every child has different strengths. That’s why we tailor every child’s education to suit their needs.
Perhaps your child loves science, or they’re an amazing athlete, or maybe they find out-of-the-box solutions to complex problems. Our goal is to train those superpowers so they support your child’s overall learning skills.
We offer tuition assistance to over ⅓ of our parents throughout the school year. Your financial status does not affect the application process.
To discover whether your child is a match for our program, take our online “How Can We Help You?” questionnaire. This can help you get a basic understanding of where your child is struggling in school. That said, we may request additional testing and assessments in order to ensure your child will excel in our classrooms.
In addition to online and in-person tutoring, we also offer a full-time program in our school for learning disabilities. This sets us apart from many other after-school programs, which often attempt to supplement a child’s struggles in a classroom that isn’t built for their unique needs.
Many of our students have co-occurring dyslexia and ADHD, which is why we provide a curriculum that promotes executive function. If your child has a complex diagnosis, with or without ADHD, we’re happy to discuss how our approaches can help them succeed in the classroom.
In the same vein, some students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may qualify for our programs, so long as it is a secondary diagnosis to their dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia diagnosis. Our instructors are not equipped to educate children with behavioral or emotional disorders. We may not recommend our programs if they are not the best fit to meet the needs of your child.
Why Choose Horizon Academy?
Choosing the right educational setting shapes your child’s entire relationship with learning. While many traditional schools try to patch over learning gaps with part-time support, a dedicated environment does something completely different. It changes the framework of the classroom itself.

True Integration vs. Supplemental Help
Many public and private institutions offer accommodations, but they still expect students to fit into a traditional mold. They treat specialized methods as an afterthought or a separate tutoring session. We build our entire school day around how your child actually thinks, ensuring they never feel out of place.
Fellow Students Who Understand
In a typical classroom, children with learning differences often feel isolated or left behind. Placing your child in a specialized school for learning disabilities connects them with peers who share their exact struggles and strengths. This shared experience replaces school anxiety with confidence and deep social connections.
Gearing the Classroom Toward Success
When every teacher is trained in specialized approaches, your child does not have to constantly self-advocate or catch up. From executive function support to tailored math and writing frameworks, the entire environment is designed for their mind. We focus on unlocking their unique superpowers so they can truly thrive.
