Helping Students Prepare
for Fall

Jump Start Summer Program
Through a half-day of play-based, multisensory Orton-Gillingham Approach, rising kindergarten and first-grade students practice language skills including phonological awareness, emergent writing, alphabet awareness, and fundamental numeracy skills.

Summer Academic Program
Guided by specially trained staff, Horizon Academy summer students engage as learners in small instructional groups with a focus on reading, written expression, and math. We adapt our full-day curriculum to meet the needs of each student and ensure they begin to experience school success.

Summer Tutoring
Our staff offers single-subject tutoring using the Orton-Gillingham Approach for reading, as well as Multisensory Math for numeracy and specialized written expression training that explores the entire writing process.

Frequently Asked Questions
Every student has unique needs, which is why we’ve split up our two programs by age group. Kindergarteners can benefit from our Jump Start program and prepare themselves for traditional elementary school, while students in grades 1 through 7 can strengthen their academic skills in our summer classes.
Tutoring is also available if your child would benefit from one-on-one, single-subject instruction prior to the upcoming school year. We meet every student where they are to help them prepare for the next steps in their academic journey.
Many camps offer basic reading help, but our program adapts the whole day to your child’s specific needs. We teach language by using the Orton-Gillingham Approach, which ensures students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia truly understand how words work.
Whether your child is here for our Jump Start Summer Program or our full-day academic program for grades 1 through 7, we’re here to help them harness their superpowers. When looking for summer programs for dyslexia, your child deserves a place that builds confidence in practical skills.
Writing can feel overwhelming when your brain processes language differently. In our summer academic program, we remove this frustration by using the specific sentence-combining and framing techniques found in The Writing Revolution.
Our teachers support children with learning disabilities in building solid, clear words before moving on to sentences, then paragraphs. This approach turns writing into a predictable, manageable process where your child’s creativity can shine.
We know that academic success requires more than just reading and math skills. That’s why every day, we teach executive function skills to help students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia organize their thoughts and everyday tools.
Your child practices planning out tasks, tracking assignments, and managing their energy. These habits can help turn chaotic school days into predictable routines.
Math instruction in our Jump Start and summer academic programs don’t rely on memorization or worksheets. We use Multisensory Math to make abstract numbers physical.
Students with dyscalculia use physical objects to see exactly how math operations function. Choosing our summer programs for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia means your child learns to see numerical concepts as exciting puzzles they can solve.
Our specialized learning environments remove the stress that traditional classrooms often create for students with learning differences. We celebrate different ways of thinking and help children to view their learning disabilities as learning superpowers.
By participating in full-day summer programs for dyslexia, dysgraphia, and/or dyscalculia, your child can gain critical thinking skills and a genuine joy for learning. You can watch your child transform into a proud self-advocate who feels ready for the upcoming school year.
