Considering admission to a program at Horizon Academy could be the first step in ensuring your child’s future success.
At Horizon Academy we admit bright students who are diagnosed with specific language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Many of our students may also have ADHD. We are unable to serve students who have a primary diagnosis that is of an emotional or behavioral nature.
Our school year program provides students in grades 1-12 the academic and emotional support they need to be successful. Our curriculum is adapted to meet the needs of each student to ensure that he/she experiences school success. Students attending Horizon Academy will become strategic learners as they develop time management, self-advocacy and social skills.
Does your child need extra support outside of school? Horizon Academy’s Tutoring Center offers students the extra help they need outside of their regular school day at both our main campus and at a location in southern Johnson County. We have school year and summer tutoring programs available that offer a supportive tutoring program and Orton-Gillingham based tutoring.
Our summer school program provides students the opportunity to sustain the growth they have achieved during the school year. Many students considering Horizon Academy’s school year program attend the summer program as a way to see if we are the right fit for the student’s needs. Horizon Academy may, in some cases, request that a student attend summer school as we evaluate a student’s placement in the school year program. Enrollment for summer school begins mid-January of each year.
