At Horizon Academy we admit bright students who are diagnosed with specific language-based learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. Many of our students may also have ADHD. We are unable to serve students who have a primary diagnosis that is of an emotional or behavioral nature.

Horizon Academy has developed plans on how to meet the future needs of prospective students during the Covid-19 crisis.

Our Admissions Office is open and we will be providing virtual parent meetings, tours and screenings for families considering enrollment for the 20-21 school year.

For families just starting the admissions process, please complete our inquiry form as your first step.

For families who have already started the admissions process, your Admissions representative will reach out to you with the modified arrangements.

We appreciate your patience as we work to provide you the best Horizon Academy admissions experience.

Our admission process is designed to thoughtfully walk you through the steps towards admission as you learn more about our school and as we learn more about the strengths and challenges of your child. Admission to Horizon Academy is decided on a case-by-case basis. We have a policy of rolling admissions allowing newly admitted students to begin enrollment throughout the school year.

Does your child need extra support outside of school? Horizon Academy’s Tutoring Center offers students the extra help they need outside of their regular school day at both our main campus and at a location in southern Johnson County. We have school year and summer tutoring programs available that offer a supportive tutoring program and Orton-Gillingham based tutoring.

Summer Programs

Our summer school program provides students the opportunity to sustain the growth they have achieved during the school year. Many students considering Horizon Academy’s school year program attend the summer program as a way to see if we are the right fit for the student’s needs. Horizon Academy may, in some cases, request that a student attend summer school as we evaluate a student’s placement in the school year program. Enrollment for summer school begins mid-January of each year.
