At Horizon Academy, we focus on language-based learning disabilities. Our passion is helping students become effective learners and confident self-advocates. Our teachers specialize in activating and engaging the brain, teaching students new skills and enhancing their abilities. This dynamic method requires a combination of small classrooms, breakout groups and individualized instruction throughout the day.
Your gift to Horizon Academy will provide need-based scholarships, ensuring this specialized learning is accessible to more students.
Opportunities to Give
Annual Giving
In the fall, we will invite current and former parents, grandparents and friends to make a financial gift to the Horizon Academy scholarship fund. Individual donations are paramount to meeting the financial needs of our students. Our goal is to provide need-based assistance to those families who qualify. Cost should not be a barrier to students who need a specialized education. Gifts to the Annual Fund range from $10 to more than $10,000, and every gift moves us closer to our mission
Special Events
A Novel Night
A Novel Night (formerly Bayou Bash*) draws on literary inspiration for a unique experience each year. On Saturday, February 22, 2025, we will gather with a few hundred friends for drinks, dinner, and dancing as we celebrate Horizon Academy and support our students. Become a sponsor, donate awesome auction items, and plan now to join us for the event.

The Drive for Dyslexia Golf Tournament
The Drive for Dyslexia Golf Tournament is an opportunity to invite friends and family for a great day on the golf course, help start conversations about learning differences, and raise money for scholarships. Join us on Monday, October 14, 2024 at Swope Memorial. Bring a team, or let us pair you with other great members of the Horizon Academy community.
Volunteer
We have many opportunities throughout the year to volunteer. These include fundraising events, school functions, Learning Disability Simulations and so much more. We appreciate your interest in our mission of empowering students with language-based learning disabilities to become effective learners and confident self-advocates.

Horizon Academy’s fiscal year runs from August 1st to July 31st each year. All donations to Horizon Academy qualify as a charitable tax deduction to the extent allowed by law. Upon receipt of your donation, you will receive a thank you letter that will include gift details for tax purposes.
