Admission Process - Horizon Academy

Admission Process

Our admission process provides a family the opportunity to learn more about our school as we learn more about the strengths and challenges of each student.

Admission Process for School Year and Summer Programs

Step One: The Inquiry

We encourage you to contact us with questions and to set-up a parent tour. For interest in our school year and summer programs, inquiries for tours can be submitted through our website or by phone.

Please complete our online form to request a tour.

Step Two: The Parent Tour

Once the inquiry is received, our admissions representative will contact you to schedule a virtual parent meeting and tour. This initial virtual tour/meeting is specifically for the parents only. Tours typically take one hour and will provide parents the opportunity to learn about our programs and what we do to meet the individual needs of our students. You will meet with the head of school and admissions representative, discuss diagnostic reports, share pertinent information about your student, tour the school, and when possible, meet some of our students.

Step Three: The Student Screening and Tour

After the parent tour, a screening and tour for your student will be scheduled. This virtual visit typically takes one hour. A member of our admissions team will meet with your student and do a basic assessment of their reading, writing, spelling, and math skills. Our principal will provide your student a tour of the school. Your student will meet our head of school as well as with a counselor who will discuss your student’s school experiences.

Step Four: Admission Decision

Once the admissions team has met and screened your student, the next step is determined and communicated to the parents by the admissions representative. The admissions representative will inform you of the Admissions Committee input and decision, typically within 24-48 hours. Invitations to complete an application will be communicated if that is the appropriate next step. Once the application is submitted, the admissions representative will provide you with a formal letter of acceptance that outlines the next steps. Please note that a deposit is what secures a spot within a Program.

The Admissions Committee may communicate:

• A decision for unconditional admission of your student in the selected program.
• Admission of your student once additional diagnostic testing is completed.
• Recommendation that your student be scheduled for a 2-3 day shadow visit.
• Attendance of the Summer Academic Program by your student prior to School Year Program admission.
