This is Ann Kavanaugh’s fifth year at Horizon Academy, teaching 7th grade this year. Ann has an MA in Developmental Reading, and a BS in Psychology, and many years of working with children and families.  Prior to Horizon, she operated a private practice where she provided remediation services and advocacy for students with dyslexia. During the 8 years of her private practice, she also taught remedial reading classes at Metropolitan Community College. In addition, she developed and taught EDRD 5650, Seminar in Dyslexia and Related Learning Disabilities in the graduate teacher education program at UMKC, and gave multiple community and school presentations on the topic of dyslexia.
