Horizon Academy Educational Consultation
(for Learning Disabilities & Special Education)
Horizon Academy, in keeping with its community mission to support families impacted by learning disabilities, can provide consultation services for families who are looking for better outcomes for their students.
There are a variety of reasons why parents may seek this kind of consultation service. Parents who are looking for changes to their student’s educational plan but are not ready to request mediation or invoke due process procedures, often choose our educational consultation service as a middle-of-the-road solution. Other parents simply notice issues in their student’s day-to-day world that they would like to resolve. Common issues to address include:
- Plateau or decline in academic performance,
- Unresolved changes in behavior at school or home,
- Dissatisfaction with IEP team or school procedures,
- Support needed during IEP meetings, or
- A gut feeling that something in their student’s disability plan is not working.
The Introductory Consultation with a licensed school psychologist includes a review of previous records (testing, evaluations, learning plans, IEP’s, etc.), a one hour virtual or phone appointment with verbal recommendations, and an electronic summary with linked resources. This initial consultation fee is $250. Subsequent service is billed at $125 per hour.

The purpose of this service is parent support and advocacy but does not include participation in judicial or due process hearings.
