Roeland Park, KS — In celebration of Dyslexia Awareness Month, Horizon Academy is proud to host the inaugural Brilliantly Wired, an exclusive morning of inspiration, conversation, and community dedicated to celebrating the brilliance of different minds.
This unique breakfast event brings together high-impact leaders who think—and lead—differently. Together, we’ll explore how learning differences can shape lives, spark creativity, and fuel success
Featured Speakers:
- Jo Marie Scaglia – Kansas City restaurant owner and founder of The Mixx and Caffetteria Modern Cafe + Marketplace. A passionate advocate for whole, real food and inclusive workplaces, Jo Marie brings generations of Kansas City restaurant experience and a dedication to serving her community.
- Justin Antoniotti – President and General Manager of KMBC-TV (ABC) and KCWE-TV (CW). A veteran journalist and newsroom leader, Justin shares his personal journey with dyslexia and how it became his “secret weapon” in a fast-paced, deadline-driven industry.
- Marc Murphy (joining remotely from New York City) – Celebrity chef, Food Network personality, and author. Known for his work on Chopped and as a global culinary advocate, Marc will share his personal experiences with dyslexia and how it has fueled his creativity and success.
“Brilliantly Wired is more than stories of resilience—it’s about changing lives through science-based education and rewriting stories for the next generation of learners,” said Vicki Asher, Horizon Academy’s Head of School.
All proceeds from the event support Horizon Academy’s need-based scholarships and educational outreach programs.

Horizon Academy is a private school in Roeland Park, Kansas, empowering students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities to become effective learners and confident self-advocates. Students typically attend for three to four years to develop the skills necessary for success before transitioning back to traditional learning environments.
