It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Bob Fritsch, the first teacher at Horizon Academy. Bob died peacefully earlier this week at the age of 84 at his home in Florida, in the loving arms of his wife, Sharyl Kennedy.
Bob was a teacher in the truest sense of the word. His greatest joy was witnessing students who struggled grow, discover their strengths, and find their place in the world. He impacted the lives of countless students and teachers throughout his many years teaching and mentoring.

During his recent health struggles, he continued to teach by example, showing everyone around him how to face life’s final chapter with dignity, grace, and even joy.
Bob felt profoundly honored to help found Horizon Academy, and he remained deeply proud of our school and excited about our future. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the students he believed in, and the community he helped build.
Bob will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
If you wish to honor Bob, the family suggests contributions to Horizon Academy’s Scholarship Fund.
Memories from our community will be compiled as a part of a tribute for Bob that will be shared with his family. If you would like to share a message, photo, or short video, please email it to Cindy Wissinger at cwissinger@horizon-academy.com.
