At Horizon Academy, understanding learning disabilities and having the ability to serve others is our specialty. We strive to be a resource to the Kansas City community and beyond.
Through our Community Resource initiative, we provide teacher training in the areas of Orton-Gillingham and Multisensory Math. Our objective is to help teachers better serve their students within their own school communities, whether they be from a public, private, parochial or home school environment.
Helping other teachers help kids brings success to everyone.
Horizon Academy offers the community a series of free informative seminars regarding learning disabilities and related topics. We invite you to join us to hear from professionals, join in an open discussion or step into the shoes of a student with learning disabilities at our learning disability simulation. The “Learning Disability Series” is held on Thursday nights throughout the year.
*Due to the COVID-19 Crisis, some of our Learning Disability Series has moved to an online or hybrid format. Simulations are in person.*
Learning Disabilities can be a complicated topic to understand. Learning disabilities are a group of disorders that impact many areas of learning including reading, writing, spelling, math, listening, oral expression, and the development of effective and appropriate social skills. At Horizon Academy, we aim to educate and spread awareness on all types of diagnosed learning disabilities and learning disorders.
